| 100 예수님은 돌아가시기 전날 밤 올리브 산 위에서 실제로 죽는 것을 두려워하셨나요?
예수님은 진짜 인간이셨기 때문에 올리브 산에서 기도하실 때 죽게 되실 것을 진정으로 두려워하셨습니다. 612 우리가 지닌 것과 똑같은 인간의 의지력으로 예수님은 세상의 생명을 위해 당신 생명을 바치라는 성부의 뜻에 따르고자 노력하셨습니다. 온 세상뿐만 아니라 심지어 당신 제자들에게도 버림받았던 가장 어려웠던 때에 예수님은 고심 끝에 “네”라고 대답하셨습니다. “아버지, 이 잔이 비켜 갈 수 없는 것이라서 제가 마셔야 한다면, 아버지의 뜻이 이루어지게 하십시오.”(마태 26,42). 100 On the Mount of Olives on the night before his death, did Jesus really experience fear of death? Since Jesus was true man, he truly experienced fear of death on the Mount of Olives. 612 With the same human strength that we all possess, Jesus had to fight in order to consent interiorly to the Father’s will that he give his life for the life of the world. Abandoned in his darkest hour by everyone, even his friends, Jesus managed after a struggle to say Yes. “My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done” (Mt 26:42). 101 예수님은 왜 하필 십자가를 통해 우리를 구원하셨나요? 예수님이 죄 없이 처참하게 처형되셨던 십자가는 가장 극심한 굴욕과 고립의 장소였습니다. 우리 구세주 그리스도는 세상의 죄를 짊어지고 세상의 고통을 겪기 위해 십자가를 선택하셨습니다. 이처럼 그분은 당신의 완전한 사랑을 통해 세상을 다시 하느님에게 데려오셨습니다. 613-617, 622-623 하느님이 우리를 위해 십자가에 못 박히셨던 것보다 더 극명하게 당신의 사랑을 우리에게 보여주셨던 적은 없습니다. 십자가형은 고대의 가장 치욕적이고 잔인한 처형 방법이었습니다. 로마 시민은 아무리 큰 죄를 지었다 하더라도 십자가형만은 피할 수 있었습니다. 그러나 십자가를 통해 하느님은 인류의 가장 극심한 고통을 겪으셨습니다. 그 이후로는 더 이상 아무도 “하느님은 내가 겪고 있는 고통을 모르실 거야.”라고 말할 수 없게 되었습니다. 101 Why did Jesus have to redeem us on the Cross, of all places? The Cross on which Jesus, although innocent, was cruelly executed is the place of utmost degradation and abandonment. Christ, our Redeemer, chose the Cross so as to bear the guilt of the world and to suffer the pain of the world. So he brought the world back home to God by his perfect love. 613-617, 622-623 God could not show his love more forcibly than by allowing himself in the person of the Son to be nailed to the Cross for us. Crucifixion was the most shameful and most horrible method of execution in antiquity. It was forbidden to crucify Roman citizens, whatever crimes they were guilty of. Thereby God entered into the most abysmal sufferings of mankind. Since then, no one can say “God does not know what I’m suffering.” |
