240 구약 성경에서는 ‘질병’을 어떨헤 해석하나요? 구약 성경에서는 질병을, 종종 사람들이 받아들이길 거부하지만 그 안에서 하느님의 손길을 알아채기도 하는 혹독한 시련으로 이해했습니다. 예언자들은, 고통은 하느님의 저주지만 그렇다고 항상 개인이 저지른 죄의 결과를 의미하는 것은 아니며, 고통을 참을성 있기 받아들임으로써 다른 사람들을 위할 수 있다고 생각하기도 했습니다. 1502 The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick 240 How was “sickness” interpreted in the Old Testament? In the Old Testament sickness was often experienced as a severe trial, against which one could protest but in which one could also see God’s hand. In the prophets the thought appears that sufferings are not just a curse and not always the consequence of personal sin, that by patiently bearing sufferings one can also be there for others. 1502 241 예수님이 병자들에게 큰 관심을 보이신 이유는 무엇인가요? 예수님은 하느님의 사랑을 보여 주시려고 이 세상에 오셨습니다. 특히 우리가 생명의 위협을 느낄 때, 다시 말해 질병으로 인해 우리 생명이 약해지고 있음을 느낄 때 그분은 종종 하느님의 사랑을 보여 주셨습니다. 하느님은 우리의 영혼과 육신이 건강해지기를 바라시며, 우리가 그것을 믿으면서 다가오는 하느님 나라를 알아차리기를 바라십니다. 1503-1505 때때로 우리는 건강할 때나 아플 때나 우리에게 가장 필요한 존재는 하느님이시라는 사실을, 병을 앓고 나서야 비로소 깨닫기도 합니다. 하느님을 통하지 않고서는 우리가 생명을 지닐 수 없습니다. 그런 까닭에 병자들과 죄인들은 본질적인 것을 알아차리는 남다른 직관을 갖고 있다는 것과 그 직관에 따라 병자들이 예수님에게 다가가는 모습을 우리는 이미 신약 성경에서 확인할 수 있습니다. “군중은 모두 예수님께 손을 대려고 애를 썼다. 그분에게서 힘이 나와 모든 사람을 고쳐 주었기 때문이다.”(루카 6,19) 241 Why did Jesus show so much interest in the sick? Jesus came in order to show God’s love. He often did this in places where we feel especially threatened: in the weakening of our life through sickness. God wants us to become well in body and soul and, therefore, to believe and to acknowledge the coming of God’s kingdom. 1503-1505 Sometimes a person has to become sick in order to recognize what we all?healthy or sick?need more than anything else: God. We have no life except in him. That is why sick people and sinners can have a special instinct for the essential things. Already in the →NEW TESTAMENT it was precisely the sick people who sought the presence of Jesus they tried “to touch him, for power came forth from him and healed them all” (Lk 6:19). 242 교회가 병자들을 특별히 보살펴야 하는 이유는 무엇인가요? 예수님은 우리가 고통받을 때 하늘도 함께 고통을 겪는다는 것을 우리에게 보여 주셨습니다. 심지어 하느님은 “가장 작은 이들 가운데”(마태 25,40)에서 그들이 당신을 알아보기를 바라십니다. 그런 까닭에 예수님은 병자들을 돌보는 일을 제자들의 주요 임무로 삼으셨습니다. 예수님은 ‘앓는 이들을 고쳐 주어라.’(마태 10,8 참조)하고 제자들에게 분부하셨고, 그들에게 신적인 권한을 약속하셨습니다. “내 이름으로 마귀들을 쫓아내고, …… 또 병자들에게 손을 얹으면 병이 나을 것이다.”(마르 16,17-18) 1506-1510 노인들과 병자들, 보살핌이 필요한 사람들이 주된 활동 대상이라는 점은 그리스도교의 결정적인 특징들 가운데 하나였습니다. 콜카타의 빈민가에서 죽어 가는 사람들을 돌본 마더 데레사 성녀도, 다른 이들로부터 소외되고 기피의 대상이 된 사람들 안에서 그리스도를 발견하는 오랜 전통을 이어 온 수많은 그리스도인 가운데 한 사람일 뿐이었습니다. 참된 그리스도인은 다른 사람들이 치유되도록 영향을 줄 수 있습니다. 심지어 그들 가운데 몇몇은 성령의 힘으로 다른 이들의 몸을 낫게 하는 능력을 받았습니다(치유의 은사, 특별한 은사). 242 Why should the Church take special care of the sick? Jesus shows us: Heaven suffers with us when we suffer. God even wants to be rediscovered in “the least of these my brethren” (Mt 25:40). That is why Jesus designated care of the sick as a central task for his disciples. He commands them, “Heal the sick” (Mt 10:8), and he promises them divine authority: “In my name they will cast out demons. . . they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mk 16:17-18). 1506-1510 One of the distinctive characteristics of Christianity has always been that the elderly, the sick, and the needy are central to it. Mother Teresa, who cared for those who were dying in the gutters of Calcutta, is only one in a long series of Christian women and men who have discovered Christ precisely in those who were marginalized and avoided by others. When Christians are really Christian, a healing influence goes out from them. Some even have the gift of healing others physically in the power of the Holy Spirit (the charism of healing, →CHARISM). |
