| 296 누군가에게 자신의 양심에 어긋나는 일을 강요할 수 있나요?
어떤 사람의 행위가 공동선을 해치지 않는 한, 우리는 누군가에게 자신의 양심에 어긋나는 일을 강요할 수 없습니다. 1780-1782, 1798 인간의 양심을 간과하고 무시하여 무엇인가를 강요한다면, 그것은 인간의 존엄성을 해치는 일입니다. 스스로 선과 악을 구별하고 선택할 수 있는 재능이야말로 인간을 인간답게 만드는 것입니다. 객관적으로 찬찬히 살펴봤을 때 설령 그릇된 선택이었음을 알게 될지라도 이는 유효합니다. 양심이 잘못된 경우가 아니라면, 양심의 소리는 하느님 앞에서 일반적으로 합리적이고 정당하며 선한 의견과 일치합니다. 296 Can someone be compelled to do something that is against his conscience? No one may be compelled to act against his conscience, provided he acts within the limits of the →COMMON GOOD. 1780-1782, 1798 Anyone who overlooks the conscience of a person, ignores it and uses coercion, violates that person’s dignity. Practically nothing else makes man more human than the gift of being able personally to distinguish good from evil and to choose between them. This is so even if the decision, seen in an objective light, is wrong. Unless man’s conscience has been incorrectly formed, the inner voice speaks in agreement with what is generally reasonable, just, and good in God’s sight. 297 우리는 우리의 양심을 올바르게 형성할 수 있나요? 그렇습니다. 더구나 그것은 우리가 해야 할 일이기도 합니다. 이성을 지닌 인간이라면 누구나 타고난 양심이 잘못되거나 마비될 수 있습니다. 따라서 우리의 양심이 올바른 행동을 가려내는 도구가 되도록 형성해야 합니다. 1783-1788, 1799-1800 양심을 올바로 형성하는 첫 번째 방법은 자기비판입니다. 사람들은 자기에게 유리한 쪽으로 판단하는 경향이 있기 때문입니다. 두 번째 방법은 다른 이들의 선한 행동을 본받는 일입니다. 인간이 양심을 올바르게 형성하면, 선을 바르게 인식하고 그것을 행할 자유를 누리게 됩니다. 교회는 오랜 역사를 거치는 동안 성령과 성경의 도움으로 올바른 행위에 관한 아주 다양한 지식을 축적했습니다. 따라서 교회는 그것에 관한 사람들에게 가르치고 지시할 사명이 있습니다. 297 Can a person form his conscience? Yes, in fact he must do that. The conscience, which is innate to every person endowed with reason, can be misled and deadened. That is why it must be formed into an increasingly fine-tuned instrument for acting rightly. 1783-1788, 1799-1800 The first school of conscience is self-criticism. We have the tendency to judge things to our own advantage. The second school of conscience is orientation to the good actions of others. The correct formation of conscience leads a man into the freedom to do what has been correctly identified as good. With the help of the Holy Spirit and Scripture, the Church over her long history has accumulated a vast knowledge about right action it is part of her mission to instruct people and also to give them directions. 298 양심에 따라 한 행동이 그릇된 경우 하느님 앞에 죄가 되나요? 그렇지 않습니다. 철저하게 검토하고 확실하게 판단했다면, 설령 그릇된 일을 행할 위험이 있을지라도 무조건 양심의 소리를 따라야 합니다. 1790-1794, 1801-1802 하느님은 양심의 잘못된 판단으로 이 세상에 초래된 불행의 책임을 우리에게 묻지 않으십니다. 우리는 궁극적으로 자신의 양심을 따라야 합니다. 그러나 우리는 자신의 양심을 따랐다고 잘못 생각한 것에 근거해서 다른 사람을 속이고 죽이고 고문하며 배반하는 일도 일어날 수 있다는 것을 분명히 인식하고 있어야 합니다. 298 Is someone who in good conscience acts wrongly guilty in God’s sight? No. If a person has thoroughly examined himself and arrived at a certain judgment, he must in any case follow his inner voice, even at the risk of doing something wrong. 1790-1794, 1801-1802 God does not blame us for the objective harm that results from a wrong judgment of conscience, provided that we ourselves are not responsible for having a badly formed conscience. While it is quite true that ultimately one must follow one’s conscience, it must likewise be kept in mind that people have swindled, murdered, tortured, and betrayed others on the basis of what they wrongly suppose to be their conscience. |
