| 394 그리스도인들은 세상을 떠난 이의 시신을 어떻게 대하나요?
그리스도인들은 하느님이 죽은 이를 육신의 부활로 부르셨다는 것을 알기 때문에 시신을 경건하고 성의있게 대합니다. 2300-2301 세상을 떠난 이의 시신을 품위 있게 땅속에 매장하고 묘지를 꾸미고 돌보는 것은 그리스도교적인 장례 문화에 속하는 일입니다. 오늘날 교회는 육신의 부활에 대한 믿음을 반대하는 표징으로 해석되지만 않는다면, 화장 등의 다른 장례 방식들도 허용합니다. 394 How do Christians treat the corpse of someone who has died? Christians treat the corpse of a dead person respectfully and lovingly, realizing that God has called him to the resurrection of the dead. 2300-2301 It is a traditional part of Christian funeral customs for the remains of a dead person to be buried in a dignified manner in the earth and for the grave to be decorated and tended. Today the Church also accepts other funeral arrangements (for instance, cremation), as long as they are not interpreted in a way contrary to the belief in the resurrection of the dead. 395 평화란 무엇인가요? 평화는 의로움의 결과요, 사랑이 실현되고 있다는 징표입니다. 토마스 아퀴나스 성인은 평화가 있는 곳이면 “모든 피조물은 유익한 질서 속에서 안정을 찾게 됩니다.”라고 말했습니다. 현세에서의 평화는 하늘과 땅을 화해시킨 그리스도의 평화를 닮은 것이라 할 수 있습니다. 2304-2305 평화는 전쟁이 없는 상태나 주의 깊게 유지되고 있는 힘의 균형(‘공포의 균형’) 이상의 것을 의미합니다. 평화 상태에서 사람들은 정당하게 얻은 재산으로 안전하게 살며 서로 자유롭게 거래할 수도 있습니다. 또한 개인뿐만 아니라 민족들의 존엄성과 자기 결정권도 존중됩니다. 평화 속에서 인간의 공동생활은 형제적 연대라는 특징을 지닙니다. 395 What is peace? Peace is the consequence of justice and the sign of love put into action. Where there is peace, “every creature can come to rest in good order” (Thomas Aquinas). Earthly peace is the image of the peace of Christ, who reconciled heaven and earth. 2304-2305 Peace is more than the absence of war, more than a carefully maintained balance of powers (“balance of terror”). In a state of peace, people can live securely with their legitimately earned property and freely exchange goods with one another. In peace the dignity and the right of self-determination of individuals and of peoples are respected. In peace human coexistence is characterized by brotherly solidarity. 396 그리스도인은 분노에 어떻게 대처해야 하나요? 바오로 사도는 “화가 나더라도 죄는 짓지 마십시오. 해가 질 때까지 노여움을 품고 있지 마십시오.”(에페 4,26)라고 말했습니다. 2302-2304 분노는 부당함을 느낄 때 갖게 되는 자연스러운 감정입니다. 그러나 분노가 미움이 되어 이웃에게 나쁜 일이 일어나길 바란다면, 평범한 감정이 사랑을 거스르는 중대한 잘못으로 발전한 것입니다. 통제되지 않은 모든 분노, 특히 복수를 꾀하는 일은 평화를 깨뜨리며 ‘질서 속의 평온함’을 파괴합니다. 396 How does a Christian deal with anger? Paul says, “Be angry but do not sin do not let the sun go down on your anger” (Eph 4:26). 2302-2304 Anger is initially a natural emotion, a reaction to perceived injustice. If anger becomes hatred, however, and someone has ill-will toward his neighbor, this normal feeling becomes a serious offense against charity. All uncontrolled anger, especially thoughts of revenge, are detrimental to peace and destroy “the tranquility of order”. 397 예수님은 비폭력에 대해 어떻게 생각하시나요? 예수님은 비폭력적인 행위를 높이 평가하시며, 당신 제자들에게 다음과 같이 요구하셨습니다. “악인에게 맞서지 마라. 오히려 누가 네 오른뺨을 치거든 다른 뺨마저 돌려대어라.”(마태 5,39) 2311 예수님은 폭력으로 당신을 보호하고자 했던 베드로 사도와 의견을 달리하시며, “그 칼을 칼집에 꽂아라.”(요한 18,11) 하고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 군대를 모으지도 않으셨고, 빌라도 앞에서는 침묵을 지키셨습니다. 그분의 길은, 희생자의 편에 서서 십자가를 향해 나아가며 사랑으로 세상을 구원하고 온유한 사람들은 행복하다고 선언하는 데 있습니다. 그런 까닭에, 교회 역시 양심상의 이유로 병역 의무를 거부하지만 다른 방식으로 사회봉사를 수행하는 사람들을 존중합니다. 397 What does Jesus think about nonviolence? Jesus places a high value on nonviolent action. He commands his disciples: “Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also” (Mt 5:39). 2311 He rebukes Peter, who wants to defend him with force: “Put your sword into its sheath” (Jn 18:11). Jesus does not call his disciples to take up weapons. He remains silent before Pilate. His way is to take the part of the victims, to go to the Cross, to redeem the world through love, and to call the peacemakers blessed. Therefore the Church, too, respects people who for reasons of conscience refuse to be part of the armed services but place themselves at the service of society in some other way. |
